Let's settle this dispute once and for all. There are 3 large software developers - Microsoft, Linux, and Apple. Now, since Mircrosoft holds 90% shares of the computer industry, we are assuming that hundreds of millions of people are using Windows based pcs. This would serve as the best target for hackers to destroy networks and spread viruses from pc to pc.

The reason why Macs don't have viruses is because they only have 8% shares of the computer industry. Quite a small population of computer users making this a low priority for hackers out there. Now, if you were a hacker and you had a virus that could potentially destory a network for good, which will you choose? The majority of pcs or Macs? Of course, since almost all networks are maintained by Windows servers hackers will of course attack pcs.

Since Windows is a popular operating system, hackers now have the opportunity of attacking all of them with devastating viruses such as Trojan, worms, etc. These viruses are only meant for Windows and not Macs, which makes Macs totally free from viruses but never immune. If a hacker decides to make a virus for a Mac, he could when he feels like it but Macs are not a worthy target at this time.
