am using 4 computers at the moment but i would love to add 4 more

This depends on what kind of work you doo on these machines.

If the work requires only simple internet access, then 8 machines should work with your 32 kbps connection.

I would prefer an upgrade to 128 kbps for smoother connections.

32? I think it is low enough bandwidth to support no more than only 1 computer
Theoretically you can connect any number if you have a router and a proxyserver, but it will get too slow for more than 4 to 5 computers
yeah even splitting with a router would grately hert the performance of both pcs
max: 4 for PC's and 1024 for Mac's
