Are Apple computers really better than pc's?

I was wondering if Macs are better than pc's? If so, in what way? I know that they supposedly don't get the viruses, better compatibility with peripherals...etc. But, other than those issues, why are Macs supposedly better to use than pc's?

And if Macs are so much better, why does 97% of business out there use pc's and why does 99% of the human species use pc's? You'd think a better product gets more customers.

I just don't know if it's just marketing hype, or if Macs are actually better computers.

Once upon a time, Apple OWNED the personal computer world. It was the Apple II, or the IBM PC. Then came the Macintosh, which was an order of magnitude better than the IBM, but more expensive.

Intel was able to reverse engineer the IBM PC chip, and to mass produce and sell it to a wide variety of PC companies like HP, Packard-Bell, Zenith, Compaq, etc. But they were still runnin MSDOS. Compared to Mac OS, it was only for the hard core geek.

While MS was designing the first applications for the Mac, they decided to design a Graphic User Interface (GUI) of their own, that would piggyback on MSDOS. It was intentionally designed to look like the Mac GUI, Gates has admitted this.

MS then was able to sell their ''Windows'' to the other PC makers, and they in turn were able to build and sell PC's more cheaply than Apple did.
