Hooking internet up to different computers in a house?nortin
You would need a router. You plug your ethernet cable from your DSL modem into the back of the router andnthen another ethernet cable from the router into the back of your computer just like it was when you had the cable going from the modem to your computer. Then the wireless laptops will be able to get on the internet and the desktops will just need wireless USB adapters. Just go to best buy and someone there will advise you on the router and adapters.

Start by callin your verizon customer service... they have very knowledgeable tech support who can help you out. A technician may even be able to come over and help you set things up correctly. You can get a Router. You can hook more than one up to one modem... This allows you to run more than one computer to the net with one modem... Right now my husband is on his computer playing an internet game while i'm typin to you. You could also get more than one Modem... which will cost you extra through your internet provider. You can hook one modem up to a regular router. Meaning that those with desktops can connect to that router... and then get a Wireless router on the other modem so that those with wireless can use that modem. Usually getting a second modem in your house doesn't cost as much as the initial modem... kinda like getting a second line on your phone. So parhaps you can charge each kid 5 or 10 extra bucks to off set the extra cost. You don't need to have cable to run internet to multiple computers... call your tech guys at Verizon they'll set you up. And because you're running a business out of your home they probably have more options for ya...
The easiest thing to do is get a wireless router. The router will enable all you labtops to access the internet. Then use the extran inputs/output from your router to attach to your desktops. A simple 50 dollar router will do this for you.
Well, depending on how big the house is and where all the computers are, I would suggest getting a router, a large wireless router with multiple ports. Basically, you plug your modem into the router, then any desktops you want to the router as well, it splits the internet signal and allows for multiple users to access the internet at once. Setting up the wireless network also enables the router to send a radio signal allowing computers with wireless cards to access the internet as well. While broadband might be a little slow if everyone in the house accessed it at once, I don't see a major problem with it. Since broadband is slightly different than your standard phone line you shouldn't have issues with your phone, you might have to sacrifice some bandwidth and connection speed on your computer, but this way everyone gets internet.
